The cooperation began in 2005 when ABN AMRO was looking for a serious partner to give funds after the tsunami. The Fondation of France suggested the name of ACTED to ABN AMRO, which made a grant to ACTED. Then some collaborators of ABN AMRO participated to an audit mission in Tajikistan in order to launch the activities of OXUS there. They also participated in the creation of OXUS in Paris and 4 of them became Administrators of the Board of Directors.

These 4 people are still really involved in OXUS and contribute to:

- fund raising

- audit and control

- communication

ABN AMRO is also involved in some events :

- a Mozart concert in January in Paris, whose profits have been given to ACTED

- the Salon de l'humanitaire exhibition: ABN AMRO financed half of the stand price

The collaboration with OCTO began also in 2005. The technical director of OCTO, Pierre Pezziardi, took part in the Tajikistan mission and is now a member of the Board.

The main aspects of the partnership between OXUS and OCTO are the following:

- OCTO helps OXUS to design the architecture of its Website

-OCTO designed our logos

- OCTO created a new Loan tracking Software, Octopus Microfinance Suite :

Octopus MFS is an integrated suite allowing a complete management of a Micro Finance Institution: client management, contracts, accounting, reporting and risk management. The software has been done for ACTED and will be implemented in three countries (Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan). The system is multi-bases, multi-langages, multi-products, multi-dates, and multi-accounting.

Octopus will be then distributed in open source.
